Our establishment as Heraldic artists, Manufacturers and
Merchandisers came about through our admiration of the artistic talents,
systematic recording and dedication of the ancient Heralds throughout their 800
year history.
In general, Heraldic Arms are granted to individual persons
for one reason or another over time and whilst there can be a hereditary
association, should not be confused with any genealogical connection within a
family name.
All Arms displayed on our products are individually made to
order to the recorded Arms description (Blazon) granted to an individual of a
particular name. We use recognised heraldic and Scottish clan reference books
such as Sir Bernard Burke’s The General Armory, Patrick Kennedy’s
Kennedy’s Book of Arms, the Armorial Général of J.B. Rietstap,
Fairbairn’s Crests, Collins Scottish Clan & Family Encyclopedia,
Robert Bain’s The Clans and Tartans of Scotland together with many other
specialised and recognised published heraldic records.
These records allow us to reproduce Arms for most Family
Names throughout Great Britain, Ireland and most European countries who have an
established Heraldic Arms System. As Arms are personal to the recipient, no
genealogical reference is implied or intended in the provision of any of our
Heraldic products which are supplied purely in association of the family name
given.
We do not obtain our Arms from a pre-written data base as do
some other suppliers. Each item is made-to-order from the various records,
printed, assembled, packaged and supplied – just for you!
In many instances a large number of different records exist
for the same spelling of a name dependent on the ‘popularity’ of the name in a
particular country and it is of great assistance for you to supply us with as
much information as you may know relating to the origins of your branch of the
particular family. Should there already be an heraldic item in existence in your
family, please describe same to your best ability so that we can reproduce the
design for consistency.
As many family names are common to more than one country, the
Arms we use are those accredited to the most commonly used and/or oldest
recorded or ‘senior’ branch of the particular name. In many instances, no Arms
have been granted to persons of many family names, therefore no record will
exist for that family name and we will be unable to personalise any of our
products for you. It is not uncommon in a number of instances for Arms to be
recorded to someone of a particular name which is a variant spelling to yours.
Should no Arms be recorded for your spelling of the name, we can adapt the
variant spelling record to display your particular spelling.
We trust you will browse our Product Catalogue which will
give you details of each of the Heraldic and Clan products we offer. Should you
have any further enquiry regarding either our products, or heraldry in general,
please do not hesitate to contact us at your earliest convenience
Assuring you of our best service at all times and Thank
You for visiting HERALDIC GIFTS.
Best regards,
"Jack" & Carolyn Frost,
Proprietors.
